Alex is growing up.

Yesterday we took Alex skiing. It was a very interesting adventure. One that has stuck in his mind as fun and really fast. We took him to a local resort and signed him up for a lesson. He got on his boots and walked over to the magic carpet. Ready set GO.
All this brought back a flood of memories of my dad. He taught me to ski at a very young age. I learned on a t-bar. I remember the ski patrol telling my dad that he had to teach me to STOP! The adventures we had racing each other down the hills, daring each other to try various jumps and bumps. He was the king of skiing out of bounds. I remember one time seeing the ski patrol before he did. I got back in bounds before him. He got his pass pulled. We used to race down the moguls in Sun Valley with people cheering me on. I was a very little kid who was fast and fearless. Sound familiar?
Alex did him proud. He would have loved this adventure with him. It is things liket this that really make me miss him. I wish he had a chance to know these boys.

Sometimes it is just the simple things. My sweet boys smiles just warms my heart.

Their silly innocence is just the best. It makes each day so worthwhile!

Ah the glorious New Years!

So I am WAY behind on the blog. I got a new pc (will get a MAC once the boys are older). Trying to figure it out has taken a bit.
Christmas was just glorious. The boys had so much fun. Alex was just in heaven. He couldn’t believe Santa thought he was so good to get all those presents. Lukie opened about 5 and just wanted to play. So he did. His favorite present was a wagon from his nanner.

Frappuccino has become a HUGE part of the family. We just adore her. She WORSHIPS Grendel and Alex.

Grendel continues to hold steady. She was able to run in an agility trial this past weekend. She was 20 seconds under time. LOVE my girl. She is busy raising the “puppy”

Tallulah ran in her first agility trial this past weekend. She exceeded anything I thought she could have done. I was SO proud of her. Now it is time to work on all things I forgot to teach her!

Alex is back in preschool and loving it. He has already been to a birthday party and out to lunch after school several times. He came to the trial to cheer his dogs on. He sure loves his dogs!

Lukie is my little piece of heaven. He is so feisty and confident….kind of like a beardie!!

This week we took the boys on the Santa Express. We drove down to the Royal Gorge to ride the train.

Alex is so excited! We get on the dome train and have dinner!

Lukie had so much fun. He loved running up and down the train car.

What a wonderful experience. The boys enjoyed it. All the kids on our train car had a blast. They were singing and dancing in the aisle. It was so much fun.

Turkey day with Nanner!

The start line!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We sure did! My mom flew into town on Wednesday. After getting reaquainted with the boys we had some fun playing guitar hero. Thanksgiving was just a GORGEOUS day. I dragged my mom into town for a little 5K turkey trot. She kicked butt! Grendel was able to do 2 miles of it then Jeff picked her up. Don’t want my baby to get too tired! I pushed the boys in the jogger where they cheered their Nanner on. Then it was home to cook. I had done most of it the night before so it was pretty nonstressful.
We got in a really good hike where Alex raced up the trail and pretty well across the mountain. Poor little Lukie was tired and rode in the pack. Lukie fell in LOVE with his Nanner. He did everything possible to be near her. He would crawl up on the couch and lay his head in her lap. Just the sweetest thing ever. We miss you Nanner! Come visit again real soon!
Ms Grendel celebrated her 11th birthday IN STYLE! My mom brought her a bag of booda bones. She got the BEST birthday package EVER from a dear friend and fellow beardies (thanks Shannon, Loki and Beckham!). She got in a good hike where she rolled in something HORRIBLE and had to have a bath. Good day for the princess!

Oh miss Grendel I love you

It has been a trying last few weeks. Grendel was diagnosed with a large inoperable liver tumor. Grendel is my baby. I call her my first born even though she is my tenth dog, throw in a couple of horses also. The story of getting Grendel is quite entertaining. I never wanted a brown beardie. I didn’t think they were pretty (how superficial was I?). In the process of looking for puppies my dad died and I got a bit mixed up with what puppies I was looking at. Anyhow Grendel was sent to me by the most wonderful breeders ever. I opened up her crate at the airport and was in SHOCK. She was brown. I was speechless. She had made a mess in her crate so I let her ride on my lap home from the airport. I fell in love. The breeders had a GREAT laugh and offered to take her back. NO WAY! This dog was destined to be mine. She hasn’t been an easy dog. She has sound sensitivitie and thunderstorm phobia. But she is also sheer joy to have around. She is silly, funny and just plain weird. She doesn’t like just everyone. She has never taken to my mom. No matter how much she has tried to bribe her. Grendel has helped me through jobs, getting married, having marriage problems, being on bed rest with Alex for 12 weeks, raising him for the past three years, helping me with every single night feeding or awakening for both boys. I can’t imagine what my boys would be like if they hadn’t known her. She is truly a little piece of heaven. A true gift from God. I am thankful she isn’t showing any signs yet. I have decided to make a bucket list for Grendel. Everyday we try to do something fun. Whether it is hiking, running, playing, chasing deer or just spoiling her it is my goal to let her live her life as comfortable and happy as can be.
I love you Grendel. I am so thankful you have come into my life. I cherish every day I have with you.

And that is just what we did!!

Nothing like flying a kite on our property in twenty degrees and a cold wind. The boys had a blast and were really good at it. Tallulah kept trying to chase it. Fun was had by all!
